Raw Will
Ralph "Rawwill" Williams Jr
Raw Will was born in New Orleans, Lousisana, in the 60's
I have always had a love for music, so along with Graphic Design courses in college, I also took music classes like Protools DAW, and Beginning Piano. Once I understood midi files, I learned how to use my old video editing skills to make up my own new music.
I developed my natual rhythm from listening and dancing to my mother playing Soul music in my early years. Thanks Mom!
I got into music late in my life and just by chance, as an old school Graphic Designer/Video Editor.
My late Dad Ralph Sr., and two of his friends Carrol Washington, and Joseph Broussard wrote the hit song Mr. Big Stuff back in the Early 70's
It was sung by the late Jean Knight.
It has been in many movies and shows like; Family Guy, The Simpsons, and many Artists sampled it and kept it current. Including "Switch," by TLC; Everclear's "AM Radio"; the Beastie Boys' "Johnny Ryall'; and John Legend's "Who Do We Think We Are."
I remember while visiting New Orleans, seeing my dad playing the piano when I was young. He made hitting the right notes look so easy.
Years later I became interested in music while at LBCC. Great teachers there allowed me become familiar with music production while I was studying video editing and productions.
I creat music that is raw emotion and ethereal. It's a collaboration with random noises and the cultural vibe. Sound is as close to feeling as color is to mood. My music is meat to be cinematic. Inspirational like a theme song soundtrack to a chapter in your life.
My Father often said that "it's greater later," through maturity of time, I now understand this sentiment.
Working in Graphics, I dabbled around with local music studios such as Triad Productions and the original Top Dog Studios of Long Beach, watching the likes of Dre B Gone, Dotted Line, AJ Luke, Moe ZMD, Dro the Last, and many OGs in the music production industry.
Through listening I learned how something that starts rough and raw at first can become a gem over time with work and persistence. Join my playlist collection of music meant to take you on a pleasant trip.
